Vitamin A for Acne

Acne has become a dilemma for people of all ages. There is countless number of reasons that can cause acne ranging from mental stress, unhealthy diet, hormonal shifts in the body and environmental factors. Acne generally appears in the form of blemishes, inflammation, dark spots and pustules.

The acne also varies from mild to severe. In case of mild acne over the counter treatments and home acne remedy can greatly abate and eventually cure the condition. However in the case of severe acne taking antibiotics and other strong acne medication might be the only option. The downside of taking such medication is that it carries a number of side effects therefore it is advisable that in case of severe acne a person consult a dermatologist who can prescribe the right form of treatment to avoid any risks involved.

Vitamin A in particular is considered to be beneficial for treating acne. Vitamin A contains retinoids, provitamin carotenoids that are found in certain food items such as carrots, yellow or dark vegetables. Retin A is which according to medical experts is a topical treatment that exfoliates the skin and manufactures collagen, a tough protein that is present in bones and skin.
Some of the key advantages of taking the medication are that it increases the rate of cell turnover and avoids infection in the hair follicles. The treatment is rather effective since the quick cell turnover helps get rid of acne formation as the new cell that is created replaces the cells of the acne.

Vitamin A can be taken in the form of skin care products, topical treatment or supplements. According to medical experts it is highly beneficial for improving acne condition since it contains several healing properties. It also helps improve the overall health of the skin and maintains the health of teeth, mucous membranes as well as soft tissue.
