The outbreak of small red, pus filled pimples on the face and on the body, often being severe in nature is known as acne. The pimples can sometimes be simple small boils that go away within a period of three days, or it could be severe boils filled with pus and blood.
Severe pimples could lead to acne scars, and give the face a swollen, red, inflamed look. Acne is of many kinds; severe hereditary acne, mild acne due to hormonal changes, pregnancy acne, teenage acne, adult acne, thyroid acne and so on. Thus there is also a variety of treatment for acne sufferers. There is no one specific cure or treatment, and a patient has to undergo a number of treatments to prevent or control the outbreak of acne.
Causes of Acne
There are no specific causes to acne, or even an answer as to why some people suffer from it and others don’t, even though they both may be going through pregnancy or hormonal changes. Science too, has yet not provided one solid, acceptable answer to the cause of acne. What comes out as causes, are often speculations, myths or personal experiences, with not solid explanation of the cause.
Acne occurs due to many causes and many people suffer various forms of acne resulting from exposure to different situations. For some people it could just be excessive sebum which is controlled by pills, for some it is caused by bacterial infections, which is cured by antibiotics. Hormonal changes, monthly period cycles in women, lack of sleep, oily diet and similar issues triggers acne and are cured according to the level of hormonal changes. On the other hand many people also suffer from acne due to hereditary causes, for which sadly they have to spend the rest of their lives enduring it.
Teenage Acne
Teenage is a crucial time where a teen experiences various changes in his/her body, mentality and psychology. This is the time when the body experiences a major shift in hormonal balance and this causes the onset of pimples or acne amongst teens. Excessive oil secretions on the skin, internal developments, puberty etc all reflects on teenage acne. In teenagers it’s the adolescence changes that cause them to have pimples, acnes and other skin issues. Teen acne is not something to worry about much as with some proper remedies they will be in control easily. But having said this, you must also understand that the severity of the condition plays a major role in treatment of teen acne. There are face washes; topical treatments all that could help you deal with acne effectively.
Adult Female Acne
Women tend to face acne problems more than men. This is because females often go through a monthly shift of hormones and therefore they have to deal with the onslaught of acne more frequently than men. Monthly menstrual cycles, pregnancy, over loaded stress, busy lifestyle all lead to being the cause of acne occurring in women more than in men. Almost all women experience breakouts with acne, especially during their premenstrual cycles. For some it is an occasional problem that could easily be treated, but for some it could also be a hereditary disease that takes a long time to treat.
Treatments
There are various kinds of treatments for acne. Home based remedies, topical treatments, antibiotics, and laser treatment. Depending upon the severity of the condition, you could be receiving any of the above mentioned treatments. But it is always suggested that you first visit a dermatologist and never leave acne symptoms and problems left untreated, as that could further aggravate the situation.
