Can Tooth Paste Cure Acne?

To find out if it’s a fact or a myth, let’s analyzeingredients present in toothpastes and how effective they are for the acne prone skin. Fluoride is present in almost all toothpastes as it stops tooth cavities. Although useful for teeth, this chemical causes severe damage to the skin often resulting in irritation, burning and skin allergies. Compared to Fluoride chemicals like Glycerin, sorbitol and alumina present in the toothpaste are capable of curing zits but the problem is that they are present in a fine powdered form in the tooth paste and therefore are not able to exfoliate the skin properly. Calcium, another active ingredient in the toothpaste increases the growth of the hair follicles and cells making skin more susceptible to outside attacks but the calcium evicting phosphates are capable of curing acne and improving skin cell shedding. Ingredients like titanium dioxide and baking soda in the toothpaste work as excellent skin exfoliators .

This shows that although toothpaste does contain chemicals that have the potential of controlling and curing acne, they are not present in the right proportion. Also their chemical concentration makes it incapable for them to show full range of benefits on acne. As we all know toothpaste was formulated with the intention to treat cavities and not acne.
