Hormones - A fatal enemy for Skin Disorders Like Acne

Being a woman I am aware of the fact that hormonal disorders greatly affects the health of the skin, which ultimately leads to acne. When I was a child my mother used to look at my clear skin and say: “I pray to god it remains like this through out your life but I am afraid and I know it wont”. We women go through 3 important phases in our life and this is the period when significant changes take place in our hormones. These are menstruation, pregnancy and menopause. Hormones, which are responsible for the maturation of the oil glands in the skin becomes unbalanced and disturbed when any of these stage occurs.

Acne is also associated with androgens, male hormones that are found in both men and women. The oil produced by these hormones is responsible for clogging hair follicles giving rise to pimples and blemishes.

Hormonal acne is most commonly observed among women as compared to men because it is the women who experience hormonal changes and disorders many times in their life. In women also this types of acne is more common among the ones who are in their late 20s. Some of them experience acne for the first time at this age. Dermatologist suggest that as acne flare up occurs a number of times in a women’s life instead of taking antibiotics and other heavy oral medicines they should follow a Regimen that keeps their skin clear, fresh and hydrated. Today I am a mother of a daughter and whenever I look at her skin I start recalling the words of my mother. I also pray to god that her skin remains likes this throughout her life but l know and I am afraid it wont.
